Description:

Goldfish is a cartoon series starring Larry and Bill, who are (you guessed it!) goldfish. Larry and Bill are very simple characters, just your average goldfish. Most episodes involve Larry and Bill arguing about something. They are just two friends who get into occasional arguments.

History:

Goldfish originated as a series that could be made very quickly. After finishing several large projects, series creator Snubby went through a phase where he only wanted to work on things that could be finished very fast. A good example would be The World's Stupidest Man (which was launched at a much later date, but originally started at the same time as Goldfish, since Woozle was the animator and was on vacation at the time), but mainly just Goldfish for that phase.

The animation time spent on each episode was very short, but the scripts were written very tediously. Most were thought of months before Goldfish was ever here. The Goldfish episodes started out as a commentary on society, a good example being Goldfish #2 which was an opinionated piece about racism. But not all of them were opinionated, they served more as a commentary on how people talked and acted, like in Goldfish #3 when Bill told Larry that he was fat. More importantly than conveying a message, the Goldfish series was (and still is) intended to relax the viewer.

As time went on, Goldfish stopped being that series that was really quick to make, and one that had actual effort put into it. This became evident in Goldfish #4 when the fish were custom animated to eat the food, and there were zoom ins and such. This was when Snubby left the making cartoons quick phase.

Characters:

This is Larry, he is usually to the right of the screen. Larry and Bill are both the main characters of Goldfish, and they both pretty much look exactly the same, except for in Goldfish #3 when Bill got a hat. Though Larry and Bill have very simliar personalities, Larry is a lot more conservative and cowardly than Bill. This becomes obvious in Goldfish #4 when Bill talks to Larry like a bitch and spits food all over him. In a way, Larry is a lot like Stevie of Duck Luck.

Bill is the goldfish usually to the left of the screen. Bill and Larry are both very similar in appearance and personality, but there are some differences. Bill is actually a lot meaner than Larry, for example in Goldfish #3 when he calls Larry fat, or in Goldfish #4 when he spits food all over Larry. If you think about it, Bill is a lot like Duck of Duck Luck. Also, a funny thing about Bill is that in all early episodes of Goldfish, Bill's name was never revealed.
